I have this “Mom” plaque with an ugly candle holder that matches nothing in my house that my youngest gave me for Christmas several years ago. He bought them at the school Santa Shop, along with a silver necklace that spells out the word “Mom”. He was so proud of his purchases...and they were so very thoughtful. He took the time to actually pick out gifts for each one of us and I was surprised at how much thought he put into each one, as he explained them to us Christmas morning.

“We must carry out the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.” John 9:4 I’m not sure how many times I have read the story of Jesus healing the man blind from birth in John 9, but I didn’t realize that this sentence that Jesus’ said came from that encounter when I got my bracelet out. Right before verse 4, Jesus says, “This came about so that God’s works might be displayed in him.” Jesus told the disciples when questioning him that he wasn’t blind because of something he or his parents had done, but so that God’s work might be shown in the man.

1 John 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.” To love God is to also love His commandments. If we say that we are a believer and love God yet walk in total disobedience to His Word and without fellowship with Him, then unfortunately we are liars.
